Ecological Surveys

Under the Wildlife and Coutryside Act 1981 species of flora and fauna are afforded statutory protection in the United Kingdom. This is why we provide a comprehensive range of ecological, ornithological and bat surveys to ensure our clients peace of mind that they are in complience with the relevent legislation.

Bats use trees for summer maternity roosts, temporary night roosts and winter maternity roosts. We have specially trained, certified assessors and climbers that survey trees looking for signs of bat use. Using locators we can comprehensively prove or disprove the presence of bats and give the go ahead for works that may otherwise have been delayed.

Likewise if we do find bats then we can recommend appropriate measures to avoid their disturbance depending on the habitat and time of year.

We also survey sites with potential for protected plants or animals such as Badgers or Great Crested Newts. We can advise on translocating plants or trapping and moving animals to ensure their protection in accordance with current legislation. We install newt fencing around development sites and badger netting to prevent their returning to sites once they have been moved.
